Lita Ford /Ozzy Osbourne - Close My Eyes Forever with lyrics

Romeo and Juliet on steroids. That's how I would describe "Close My Eyes Forever" by Liita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne.
Although the subject matter is a bit morbid for some people, this is an absolutely awesome song. Simply defined, it's about a couple that can't handle their breakup, and are contemplating suicide. The rhythm, tempo, pitch, and reality of the song, makes it's nearly the perfect ballad.
"Close My Eyes Forever" was released in 1988 and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. I am sure that this would have hit #1, but for most people, reality scares the hell out of them.
The primary footage for this build was from the original Video recorded in 1988. Of course I had to cut it up and edit in my own "cool ranch flavor" just to make it different from the 100's of the same video on YouTube. Hope you all enjoy it.

Tesla - Love Song - with Lyrics

On the corner of 20th St. & Capitol Ave. in midtown Sacramento, Ca. was a popular nightclub called the Oasis Ballroom.  They hosted many of Northern California's up and coming new talented bands. One night some friends and I were fortunate enough to be there and see a little known local band called City Kidd perform. These guys were firckin' awesome. As we were leaving the club that night, I remember thinking, "those guys are going to make it big time"
That little known local band called City Kidd was none other than the now very well known band called Tesla.
Yeah, I'd say they made it big time alright. Their albums have sold over 14 million copies in the United States alone.

This power ballad "Love Song" is Tesla's biggest hit to date, reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also became a Gold Record. The original video for "Love Song" was recorded on July, 7 1989 at the Cal Expo amphitheater in Sacramento. My brother had bought me a ticket for the show as a birthday gift. A local radio station "93 Rock" had a banner contest. Whoever had the best banner in the crowd would win backstage passes. Me, my brother, and our girlfriends made a really cool banner, (I wanted those backstage passes) but we didn't win. The show was awesome though

Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is - with lyrics

 https://classicrockballads.rocks/
videoNo Classic Rock Ballads playlist can be complete without including one of the worlds' most recognized rock ballads of all time. "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. Recorded in November 1984 on their Agent Provocateur album. This song topped music charts all over the world. Knocking off Madonna's long-running "Like a Virgin" out of #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 on February 2, 1985.
It reached the #1 spot in U.S. ,U.K. ,Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden, peaking at #2 in Switzerland and South Africa, as well as reaching the top ten in many other country's. "I Want To Know What Love Is" is listed as one of the Rolling Stone magazine's greatest songs of ALL TIME at #479. The song is also featured in a number of films.
Basically, this is just a typical power ballad that often deals with romantic and intimate relationships, loneliness, sadness, and to a lesser extent, war (protest songs). However, due in part to Lou Gramm's soulful lead vocals and the New Jersey Mass Choir's background vocals, this song has a dreamy, hypnotic feel to it, that sets it apart from other ballads. As such, I edited several clips in this video that would give it that mood. Hope you all enjoy it.

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight - w/Lyrics

video

The meaning of Phil Collins's "In The Air Tonight" became an urban myth. The story, which is not true, is that Collins watched as a man who raped his wife drowned. Another version has Collins writing this about a man who watched another drown, and singing it to him at a concert. Yet another variation claims that when Collins was a young boy, he witnessed a man drowning someone but was too far away to help. Later, he hired a private detective to find the man, sent him a free ticket to his concert, and premiered the song that night with the spotlight on the man the whole time.
The truth is; Collins wrote this song about the anger he felt after divorcing his first wife, Andrea Bertorelli, in 1980 - he was so devastated that he left Genesis for a short time. All of the original songs on the Face Value album, including the hit "I Missed Again," were at one time intended to be "messages" to his first wife in an attempt to lure her back to him. The tension caused by the divorce led Collins to the title, as these negative feelings were "In The Air," and affecting not just the couple getting divorced, but the entire family.
However, the urban myths make this song much more interesting and fun to build a video around. :-) . So I took the young boy witnessing a drowning and ran with it to create this video. It's slightly morbid, and outside the box, but interesting as hell. Check it out.

Survivor - I Can't Hold Back - with lyrics

"I Can't Hold Back" by Survivor is one of those power ballads that apparently often get overlooked and hasn't made it on many playlist's (by YouTube standards anyway). Not sure why that is, but I intend to get my video of it on a few playlist's, because this is an awesome power ballad. "I Can't Hold Back" was released August 1984 on Survivor's Vital Signs Album. The song peaked at #13 in December 1984 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also peaked at #1 for three weeks on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart.  "I can't hold back" also made a bit of a comeback in 2009, when it was featured twice in the film "Paul Blart: Mall Cop as the love theme between the characters Paul and Amy. Really great power ballad, hope you all enjoy the video I put together for it. Please like and share.

Phil Collins - I Wish It Would Rain Down - with lyrics

"I Wish It Would Rain Down" is a beautiful Power Ballad by the amazingly talented Phil Collins, from his 1989 album ...But Seriously, featuring lead guitar by the awesome Eric Clapton. This song was a significant chart hit in 1990, peaking at No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and No.1 on the RPM Top 100 in Canada. It also reached No.7 on the UK Singles Chart. "I Wish It Would Rain Down" is about a relationship that has passed, perhaps because of cheating, but the singer reflects on everything that was said, and still hangs onto their relationship, even though he knows his chances of ever seeing them back together are less than likely.

Everything about this song makes it a perfect ballad. And as such I felt I needed to create a beautiful video to do the song justice. After hours of searching for the right clips, editing, and after effects, I think I pulled it off pretty well. Hope you all agree and enjoy it. Please like and share

Aerosmith - Angel - with lyrics

Angel" is a power ballad by  Aerosmith. It was written by lead singer Steven Tyler and  Desmond Child. Released in 1987 as the third single from the band's successful 1987 album Permanent Vacation. It quickly climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second highest chart performance for any Aerosmith single, behind their #1 smash "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (which I will be creating a video for soon)
"Angel" has a power ballad style and incorporates many of the characteristics of rock ballads, including driving electric guitar riffs by Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, pianos and violin sounds (from a keyboard), an emotional delivery of lyrics by Steven Tyler, a strong rhythm by bassist Tom Hamilton, and well-placed steady drum beats by Joey Kramer.

I created this video to suggest that the girl in it is actually an angel, but you don't realize that 'til the end of the video, yeah I have my moments of being clever every now and then. Hope you all enjoy it. Please like and share

Styx - Suite Madame Blue - with lyrics

"Suite Madame Blue" by Styx was written in 1975 by Dennis DeYoung as America was gearing up for its Bi-Centennial celebration in 1976. The song is not a celebration of the event, but a look at how it was being exploited.
Dennis DeYoung explained in Classic Rock Revisited: "The 200th anniversary of America was being totally taken over by commercialization in a rather unceremonious fashion".
Dennis DeYoung is a brilliant songwriter, and his work often challenges you to think outside the box. "Suite Madame Blue" is no exception, but if you know that "Madame Blue" refers to the statue of Liberty, the lyrics are not that hard to decipher.

video

I built this video to intentionally be outside the box and a bit bizarre, but knowing that  "Madame Blue" is the statue of Liberty, the video will make much more sense to everyone. I just wanted to make it more interesting and entertaining than using a bunch of footage and/or images of the statue of Liberty. Hope you all enjoy it. Please like and share

Don Henley/Eagles - New York Minute w/Lyrics - (Remembering 9/11)

 https://classicrockballads.rocks/

videoNew York minute was written in 1989 by Don Henley and Danny Kortchmar and released on Henleys' The End of the Innocence album in 1990. The version in this video was recorded in 1994 by the Eagles on their Hell Freezes Over album. So, obviously this song had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. Don Henley is a brilliant singer/songwriter, but he is not a prophet, let's keep it together folks. The song was written merely about how quickly things can change in life (in a nutshell). However, the song does indeed fit the 9/11 attacks very well. So I built this video in remembrance of the World Trade Center attack on 9/11/2001, we will NEVER forget. I also incorporated some clips addressing homelessness issues in America. Although the video is built from clips primarily of New York, this is a wake up call for America as a whole. This video is in no way a political statement, and is not intended to offend anyone. I built this video just as a remembrance of 9/11, the video is intended to merely say, appreciate what you have, and cherish those you love because, "In a New York minute, everything can change".

Gary Wright - Dream Weaver with - lyrics

"Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright was released in late 1975 and I had always been intrigued with the song. But at 14 years old, other than a fantasy of riding a train through space and time, I never really knew what this song was all about.
On Gary Wright's official site, he explains:  'Dream Weaver, I believe you can get me through the night...' was a song about someone with infinite compassion and love, carrying us through the night of our trials and suffering... None other than God Himself."
According to Gary Wright, the song was inspired by Paramhansa Yogananda's poem "God! God! God!" Autobiography of a Yogi, which was given to him by George Harrison .
"Dream Weaver" became a hit in the US, reaching #2 in the Billboard  hot 100 chart, while it reached #1 in the Cash Box charts in 1976.
This song is done completely with keyboards and synthesizer with drums in background. When we he started recording The Dream Weaver album, Wright realized that the songs sounded fine without guitars, so he didn't use them. The novelty of a keyboard-driven rock record got him a lot of publicity in the music press.
At some point I will build a video for Wright's follow-up hit, "Love is Alive," which also hit #2 in the US, but has not endured as a radio staple the way this song has.

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love - with lyrics

I
know that "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette is a pop ballad, not a
rock ballad. But two different subscribers had requested that I build a video
for this song. Initially, I wasn't going have a pop ballad on my rock ballad
channel, but, #1, I want to keep my subscribers happy, #2, this song is on many
other rock ballad video creators' playlists, and #3, this is a really good
ballad that would indeed be a rock ballad only if Roxette     (Marie Fredriksson, and Per Gessle),
was a rock duo and not a pop duo .  Additionally, this song was a  major radio play hit that many DJ's
classified as a soft rock ballad. Recorded before Roxette started working on
their Joyride album,
"It Must Have Been Love" was written for the movie Pretty Woman, starring Julia
Roberts and Richard Gere. The movie was an enormous hit, and so was the
soundtrack. Released in March 1990, Pretty Woman developed a huge following, which
helped send this song to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in June, where
it stayed for two weeks. With all those attributes in place, I decided that was
plenty of justification to create a video around this song for my rock ballads
channel. The video I built is very unique, and in sync to what the song is
about. Hope you all enjoy it. Please like and share this video.

Styx - Lady (live) with lyrics

For those of you that have visited my YouTube Channel and watched any (or even all) of my videos, it is obviously clear that I am a HUGE fan of classic rock ballads, and particularly more so of Power Ballads. And if you are visiting, or even subscribed to my channel I assume you are a Power Ballads fan as well.
But, have you ever wondered how power ballads became a music genre? It was because of this song here. That's right "Lady" by Styx was the reason why we now have a power ballads music genre. Let me explain;
Lady was recorded in 1972 and released on Styx's 2nd album "Styx II" in July 1973, then released as a single. but it bombed and went nowhere. Not because it wasn't an awesome song, but because it got hardly any air time.
According to DeYoung, radio stations didn't know how to classify it, since it started slow and then picked up.
Although "Rock Ballads" was a recognized music genre in 1973. "Lady could not be classified as a ballad even though it starts softly, it ends too "powerfully" to be a ballad.
It was only through the efforts of a very persistent DJ on WLS in Chicago (the band's hometown) that the song got its due. Determined to make it a hit, he played the song every night at 8 p.m., until it caught on. It did, and other stations added it to their playlists. However, they still needed to classify it's genre. Using that exact reason, that it starts soft and gradually gains power, radio producers created the "Power Ballads music genre.
It took a little while, and it wasn't until March 1975 that the song reached its chart peak of #6, giving Styx their first breakout hit. But more importantly, the song pioneered the way for nearly every rock band in the world to start recording power ballads by the tons, some that are now iconic power rock anthems. Nearly 50 of those are on my channel playlist by the way, and they will keep coming for as long as God allows me to create the videos. Go check 'em out, some of them are pretty damn good.
