Cheap Trick - The Flame with lyrics

video

"The Flame" is a power ballad written by British songwriters Bob Mitchell and Nick Graham. The song was first offered to English singer Elkie Brooks, who turned it down, and was then released by Cheap Trick,

The song appeared on the band's Lap of Luxury album in 1988. Considered as the band's comeback album following the failure of the 1986 album The Doctor, Lap of Luxury produced three top 40 hit singles and one minor hit single. After "The Flame" topped the American Billboard Hot 100.

The success of "The Flame" brought Cheap Trick out of a years-long commercial slump and back into music industry prominence. It was Cheap Tricks' only number one single in America. It also became the band's first hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, reaching #29 there; "Don't Be Cruel" then hit #32 on the AC chart.

Reportedly, the band disliked the song at first;  Rick Nielsen disliked the song so much on first hearing that he yanked it from the tape player and ground the cassette beneath his boot heel.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Full/Long Version w/Lyrics

 https://classicrockballads.rocks/
video

In 1983, Bonnie Tyler's hit "Total Eclipse Of the Heart" reached the #1 spot on U.S. and U.K. charts. Really cool and well written, I've always liked this song. And  I like the original official video. However, as much as I appreciate thinking outside the box, I always thought the video was just way too far out there somewhere, and didn't make any sense in relation to the song. The gothic video, was story-boarded by Jim Steinman and was inspired by the film Future World, the follow-up to the Yul Brunner futuristic thriller Westworld. It was filmed at Holloway Asylum, which was built by a doctor out of the proceeds of a drug he'd invented to help his patients. Again, I'm not knocking the video, it is kinda cool. I just think it makes no damn sense. If you've ever seen the original video, you'll recognize most of what I did here. I cut parts of the original video and edited it in with cuts from 1984 live footage to make it still cool, but much more closer to our solar system. I hope you all enjoy it.

Bob Seger - Turn The Page w/lyrics

This song is about life on the road, and the rigors musicians face when they're touring. It presents the other side of fame which the public doesn't see - the loneliness and aggravation.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird w/Lyrics

video

Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" began as a ballad without the guitar solos at the end, and Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded it that way for the first time in 1972. Guitarist Allen Collins had been working on the song on and off for the previous 2 years. At the time of recording, the song was only 7 1/2 minutes long, but throughout the next year, Collins continued to refine the song until it was recorded for the final cut of Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd in 1973.
Collins wrote the music long before Ronnie Van Zant came up with lyrics for it. Van Zant finally got inspired one night and had Collins and Gary Rossington play it over and over until he wrote the words.
The lyrics are about a man explaining to a girl why he can't settle down and make a commitment. The opening verse, "If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?" was inspired by Allen Collins' girlfriend Kathy, who had asked him this very question during a fight

Scorpions - Send Me An Angel w/lyrics

"Send Me an Angel" by the Scorpions was released in September 1991for their eleventh studio album, Crazy World  as the album's fourth and final single in September 1991. Along with "Wind of Change". The song became the album's signature track, reaching number 44 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart on January 25, 1992, number 8 on the Mainstream Rock Chart[1] and high chart positions in many European countries.
This song has a very COSMIC feeling to it. "The morning star" is  known as the planet Venus, and Venus is the planet of love, so the land of the morning star is "the calling deep within your heart", where your love resides, it is the way out of the dark, and into the light, into the dreams of your heart - "your promised land". "Wise man" is the place of wisdom that resides within you, that "as the years pass you by" you finally realize "love" is answer, it is the "dawn" of your true life, and "here I am" ready to receive my angel, my angel who is the promise of love and hope, and the angel of who I truly am inside...

Hell Is For Children, Lyrics:

They cry in the dark, so you can't see their tears
They hide in the light, so you can't see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child

Because Hell, Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, hell is for children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love
With your bones and your flesh

It's all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
Be daddy's good girl, and don't tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

Because Hell, Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, hell is for children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love
With your bones and your flesh
No, Hell is for children

Hell, Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell, Hell is for children

Hell, Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell, Hell is for children

Hell, Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell, Hell is for children

Hell is for children
Hell is for children

Eagles - Please Come Home For Christmas w/Lyrics

 https://classicrockballads.rocks/

video
‘The Heart Of The Matter’ was released in 1989 on Don Henley’s album ‘The End Of The Innocence’ (which also features ‘New York Minute’, another Henley heart-stopper). The song was revisited by the Eagles in 1994 on their ‘Hell Freezes Over’ live album, which is by far the superior version, stripped of any lingering ‘Boys Of Summer’ production, and infused with those soaring Eagles harmonies. Henley’s vocal is more raw too; the heartache still seems new, which is a testament to how emotive a vocalist he can be. Or maybe five years still wasn’t enough time.
Henley lived in the fast lane, sure, but he didn’t realize he was speeding in the wrong direction. By the time he bothered to look in the rear-view mirror, she was gone.
The chorus is so stark, a portrait of a man slowly working his way through heartache. It’s all so elementary; a broken man rebuilding himself without a reliable guide. It’s small and simple, and never angry. “But I miss you sometimes” hits all the harder for not being obscured in metaphor. “The things I thought I knew, I’m learning again.” There’s a lot of trying, and learning, but also a complete surrender to things outside his control. He misses her, his will gets weak, his thoughts scatter – she doesn’t love him anymore. He can’t steer any of it. All he can do is try, and learn. It’s beautiful.

Styx - Castle Walls w/Lyrics

The song’s primary allusion is to leave a castle for some mysterious and compelling reason. Something, apparently desirable, is out side the boundary created by the castle. Ultimately, a castle is device of protection, but if that protection is perceived to be too important to shed, then the castle becomes a prison. The only way to discover and experience that which is “calling”, is to abandon the safety and protection it provides.

This is not an easy thing to do. It’s scary out there! Battles rage like hell and doves loose there will to fly! The translation being that; “trying” is no guarantee for success and may make the situation worse. At least that’s the perception. Hanging out in the castle is the safe and easy thing to do.

Basically, the song is about overcoming self-imposed limitations. Clinging to the safety of the castle is a metaphor for the fear of leaving one’s comfort zones. following our dreams may “seem” like a tough thing to do, but in reality, it’s the perception of difficulty that is the limiting factor.

“Life is never what it seems” -- of course it’s not -- it’s a Grand Illusion! And, don’t let that illusion (perception) stop you from realizing your potential. Eventually, “every man must meet his destiny” – you can’t hide in the castle forever!

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man with lyrics

"Simple Man"  is one of Lynyrd Skynyrd's most popular songs.
Since the song became available for digital download, it has become Lynyrd Skynyrd's third best-selling digital song after "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird". It has sold 1,333,000 copies in the U.S. as of November 2013. The song charted in the Hot 100 for the first time in May 201
Shortly after Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother and Gary Rossington's mother died, they got together in Van Zant's apartment and started telling stories about them. Rossington came up with a chord progression, and Van Zant wrote the lyrics based on advice the women had given them over the years. They wrote it in about an hour.
Even though the lyrics state, "Sit beside me, my only son," Ronnie was not the only son. He had 2 younger brothers along with one older sister and one younger sister.

REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You with lyrics

video

Click Here To Subscribe To The Classic Rock Ballads YouTube Channel

REO Speedwagon was one of the first Rock bands to score big with power ballads in the '80s. They had the good fortune of being one of the hottest bands in America when MTV launched on August 1, 1981
Most of the band's videos were dominated by performance footage, and they weren't photogenic enough to compete on the network with the likes of Duran Duran, Van Halen and other acts who did a better job matching a picture to the sound.
Keep On Loving You" is lead singer Kevin Cronin's response after he found out his wife was cheating on him. In the song he says he'll keep on loving her no matter what.
Before REO Speedwagon recorded this, they were known as a hard rock band. Keyboardist Neal Doughty initially had concerns about recording this love ballad, but his fears were calmed when "Keep On Loving You" proved to be a breakthrough hit for the band.
The song first appeared on REO Speedwagon's 1980 album Hi Infidelity. It was the first REO Speedwagon single to break the top 50 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, reaching the number-one spot for one week in March 1981. The single was certified Platinum for U.S. sales of over one million copies.
